Each participant selects ONE primary subject before arrival. The final class level, timetable, topics, and teaching responsibilities will be agreed with the partner school within their academic framework.

Comprehensive Program Information

1. Program Overview & Eligibility

Teach Ghana is a short-term international teaching and cultural immersion program created by Travel Time Africa for participants spending 2–4 weeks in Ghana teaching in a private junior high school, living with a Ghanaian host family, and discovering Ghana beyond traditional tourism.

Target Participants: University/college students (education & related fields), qualified/experienced teachers/assistants, recent graduates, young professionals, individuals seeking cultural immersion, and group delegations.

Duration & Limit: 2-week, 3-week, or 4-week placement options (4 weeks maximum duration).

2. The 11-Step Participant Journey
  1. Submit online application.
  2. Select preferred dates and duration.
  3. Select one primary teaching subject.
  4. Provide education/teaching background and references where required.
  5. Complete screening and program interview if required.
  6. Receive school placement confirmation.
  7. Receive host-family information and pre-departure guide.
  8. Pay required program fees according to the payment schedule.
  9. Arrive in Ghana and complete orientation.
  10. Begin school placement.
  11. Complete program reflection and receive certificate.

4. Ghanaian Host-Family Experience & Standards

Participants stay with carefully selected Ghanaian host families to provide genuine cultural immersion, support, and safeguarding.

  • Private or appropriately arranged sleeping accommodation subject to host-family setup.
  • Meals according to selected package and host-family arrangement.
  • Guidance on local customs, transport, community etiquette, and daily family life.
  • All host families are screened and approved by Travel Time Africa.
  • Mandatory safeguarding, house rules, privacy, and respectful conduct.
5. Participant Requirements & Age Policies

Minimum Age: 18 years for standard adult program.

Minors Policy: Minors considered only under separately designed, parent/guardian-supervised group programs with enhanced safeguarding, consent, and supervision.

Language Proficiency: Effective English communication for most placements; French proficiency expected for French teaching placements.

Conduct: Accurate qualifications, professional behavior around students, adherence to school/family/TTA policies.

6. Child Safeguarding & Professional Conduct

Because participants work with minors, safeguarding is a core requirement:

  • Mandatory screening, identification, and reference verification.
  • Partner school retains responsibility for its students and policies.
  • Strict prohibition on inappropriate physical contact, private communication, or unsupervised student activities.
  • Photography or filming requires formal school and/or guardian permission.
  • Immediate reporting of student safety concerns to designated contacts.
7. Cultural Immersion & Optional Excursions

Experience Ghanaian food/cooking, local markets, traditional music, dance & drumming, history/heritage, Accra city, Cape Coast, beaches, and host-family conversations.

8. Commercial Packages & Tier Structure
  • Teach Ghana Starter (2 weeks): School + host family + core support (Base program fee).
  • Teach Ghana Immersion (3 weeks): Extended school + host family + more cultural experiences (Base + additional week).
  • Teach Ghana Full (4 weeks): Full school placement + deeper immersion (Base + two additional weeks).
9. Roles & Responsibilities

Travel Time Africa Responsibilities

  • Coordinate application and school placement.

Participant Responsibilities

  • Follow child safeguarding requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate professional conduct.
